Jeremy Hunt MP, the Shadow Minister for Disabled People, is to host a summit in the House of Commons to discuss the current situation surrounding parking for disabled people in the Capital. The meeting is being arranged to take place in Westminster later this year.Mr Hunt has invited the Chief Executives from the City of London, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Council to attend the event. Currently those four boroughs operate their own individual disabled parking schemes and do not permit disabled drivers to utilise the benefits of the otherwise national blue badge scheme.Jeremy said: “Disabled people already have much more challenges than everyone else when it comes to parking. But the reality is that for many people, public transport is not a realistic option. ""The four inner London boroughs do not operate the blue badge scheme, but each has their own schemes which are highly confusing. If they can't allow the use of blue badges, they should at least have a single integrated scheme which is why I am holding this meeting.”
