Following the redrawing of the parliamentary boundaries by the Boundary Commission, I am the Conservative Candidate for the Godalming and Ash constituency at the next election.
It was a difficult decision for me to choose between the two halves of South West Surrey that I have been serving for 18 years. However, my family are from Godalming and I grew up and went to school in Shere. I also learned to swim in Cranleigh Leisure Centre and now live in Hambledon, so I feel incredibly proud to have the opportunity to represent somewhere that is really "home".
I know we face many challenges locally - whether affordable housing, infrastructure or protecting our green spaces. In the months ahead, I would really value the opportunity to hear your views and meet as many local residents as possible.
As Chancellor of the Exchequer I have the important responsibility to carry out the Prime Minister's pledges to halve inflation, reduce debt and grow the economy.
But my first responsibility is always to my constituency and the communities in it. I am currently trying to raise funds for a new Cancer & Surgical Innovation Centre for the Royal Surrey County Hospital. I secured a £25m investment from the NHS and to date we have raised £300,000 from local donations. I hope you might feel able to support this campaign to give our area some of the best cancer treatment in the South East.
I have also been campaigning to protect our green spaces and clean up our local rivers. I have achieved an expansion of the areas protected as part of the Surrey Hills AONB and am pushing for the Surrey Hills to be upgraded to a National Park which would give it even more protection.
There are many other important issues which I must speak and vote on in the House of Commons so I would really welcome hearing from you and would be delighted if you could complete a short survey you will find below.
I look forward to hearing from you and I promise a personal reply!
Thank you in anticipation and best wishes,
