South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt and Guildford MP Anne Milton have asked for evidence relating to a recent press release published by NHS bosses. The Strategic Health Authority's press release, which was sent out at the end of last month, claimed that four out of five people that attend A&E departments could be treated elsewhere. Anne, who has severe concerns about the future of A&E provision at Royal Surrey, said: ""This is just the start. We are going to hear more and more of these sweeping generalisations about where people can be treated. I want to see the evidence to support their claim. These sort of theoretical models often bear no relation to what real people need."" Jeremy said: ""This really is a sweeping generalisation which health bosses are using to pre-justify their actions which will could see the closure of Royal Surrey. We need to see evidence and assumptions before we will accept such claims.""
