As nursery schools throughout Surrey return after the summer break, Jeremy Hunt MP has issued a reminder about an important campaign meeting which is taking place later this month.Nursery schools throughout Surrey are currently facing an uncertain future due an array of new Government guidelines over the charging of top-up fees. Many nurseries fear that they may cease to be financially viable once the new regulations come into play.Working with nurseries in Surrey, Jeremy has helped launch a campaign entitled Save Our Nurseries. He wants to see the Government put all their plans on hold until a full evaluation of the impact of the policy has been carried out.Jeremy said: “Private nursery schools in South West Surrey are a key part of our childcare system. This meeting is vital if we are to put pressure on the Government. I need nursery school providers to join together and provide their support to this campaign. ""I don’t want to see nurseries being forced to close as a result of the way in which the Government is seeking to implement free early years education places for three and four year olds. It is not right.”Jeremy is working on the Save Our Nurseries campaign with Shadow Education Minister, Maria Miller. The campaign meeting is taking place on September 29 at 5pm in Elstead Village Hall. Jeremy said: “I would urge anyone who provides nursery education in whatever form to attend our meeting on September 29. We need to pull everyone together and ensure this campaign drives forward and forces the Government to reconsider.” Maria Miller will be attending on September 29 and is set to address the attendees.
