South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt and Guildford MP Anne Milton have joined forces with hospital representatives, all political parties and other interested groups to make sure that there is one campaign to fight the threats to the Royal Surrey.Anne and Jeremy believe it is vital that any campaign has one united voice and is not divided by geography or political parties. An independent committee has now been established to run the cross-community campaign with help from local residents and hospital consultant Professor Chris Marks as the chairman.Jeremy said: ""I know from the campaign for Milford Hospital how vital it is to have a single, united campaign representing the whole community. We are stronger together than we could possibly hope to be running separate campaigns. ""The Royal Surrey, with the lowest mortality rates in the country and the second best A & E in the country, is an outstanding beacon of excellence which must not be allowed to close.""Anne Milton has welcomed her Liberal Democrat counterpart who has agreed to join the campaign group. The Guildford MP said: “It is very easy for different campaigns to spring up all over the place. I am really glad that Sue Doughty has decided to join the campaign and agreed to work alongside us to fight these threats. “The Surrey Advertiser editorial hit the nail on the head a few weeks ago when it said that there is no place for party politics. This is one campaign, one fight and we will stand alongside each other until we win.”
