LOCAL MP Jeremy Hunt has expressed his concern over the latest East Street developments. Mr Hunt believes the plans which have been granted Landlord’s Consent do not adhere to the promises made by the Liberal Democrats prior to their election. The Lib Dem’s manifesto promised a scheme which was much smaller and included much less residential accommodation. But the plans which the Lib Dem’s passed last week were for a similarly large scheme with around 300 residential units in.Mr Hunt said: “Many people in Farnham have told me they feel betrayed by this decision. The Lib Dems won the Waverley election promising to scale down the development. “Yet three years on we have a scheme which still has around 300 flats, still has four storey buildings and has done nothing to calm fears about traffic impact. “If the Conservative scheme was right in the first place, why mislead everyone into thinking it would be changed? But if the original scheme was too big, as many people feared, why hasn't it been changed?“This scheme will affect Farnham for generations, but now landlord's consent has been granted, time is running out to sort out the mess.""
