MP Jeremy Hunt has met with representatives from the mobile phone companies, Ericsson and 3 Mobile, to discuss the location of masts in South West Surrey. The meeting took place on September 6th in the House of Commons and was also attended by Farnham county councillor David Munro.Jeremy said: “It is important that these big phone companies listen to the feelings of concerned local residents. I want to ensure that we are not faced with a situation where phone companies’ consultations become a nonentity as a result of people becoming disillusioned with the process.“Any final decision has to reflect the feelings demonstrated in the consultation. If it doesn’t, phone companies will become increasingly out of touch with the community as people will boycott the consultations.“This latest meeting gave me a sense that mobile phone companies do want to engage with the wider community and are keen to listen to the views of residents. However, I think the proof will be in the pudding.”
