South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt is urging people to join the fight against overdevelopment and take to the streets this Saturday. (September 30th.) Jeremy has organised a host of marches which are taking place in Godalming, Haslemere and Farnham. He hopes that the show of unity from local residents will put pressure on Waverley to reassess its planning policy to prevent the continuous garden grabbing which is scarring South West Surrey. He said: ""Everyone wants to help young people get onto the housing ladder, but unfettered development is not the way to do it. “Garden grabbing is a real threat to the character of our area, which is why these marches will highlight the strength of local feeling. I hope Waverley will take note.""This Saturday’s marches are taking place in all three towns. The Godalming event will start at 10.30am at The Pepperpot. The Haslemere event will commence at 1.30pm in Lion Green and the Farnham one at 4.30pm in Gostrey Meadow.Greg Clark MP, whose own private members bill focuses on Garden-Grabbing Bill, will be speaking at all three events.
