South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt joined his colleague Anne Milton, MP for Guildford, on Friday June 9, to gain a first hand experience of what it is like to work in the CHASE children’s hospice. The MP’s joined members of the CHASE care team during their morning’s work, getting young people out of bed and ready for the day, feeding them and attending to their medical needs. Several children that are cared for by CHASE were staying at Christopher’s on Friday and both Anne Milton and Jeremy Hunt said it had been a real privilege to meet the youngsters and of course members of the CHASE care team.Jeremy said: ""Christopher's is a remarkable home away from home for disabled children and families who would otherwise find accessing any respite very difficult if not impossible. ""The place has a wonderful energy that comes from the remarkable commitment of not just its staff and volunteers, but also the children themselves who have a tremendous sense of fun and playfulness. It was a privilege to be part of their activities for a brief period.""Anne Milton said: ""Christopher’s would not work without its volunteers and carers. They really are the unsung heroes of our community.""
