Guildford MP Anne Milton is chairing a meeting for Surrey MPs in Westminster to discuss the cuts to local NHS services and possible hospital closures in the county. The meeting will agree a common strategy for the county’s MPs in order for them to fight the potential cuts. Whichever hospitals are affected, any decision will have a massive impact on the whole county.Jeremy Hunt said: ""Working together in this battle is vital for success. We will not allow this Government to ride roughshod over the wishes of the electorate. The support for Royal Surrey is immense and to close it would have a simply devastating impact on Guildford and Waverley. We will be doing everything in our power to ensure these plans never see the light of day.""The Royal Surrey County Hospital (RSCH) in Guildford is under serious threat with A&E, maternity and paediatrics all in the frame for closure. Anne Milton believes the flawed Government funding formulas gives Surrey residents a raw deal. She said: ""The Government’s has made it clear that it wants cuts in acute hospitals and we in Surrey appear to be first on the hit list. We all need to unite to fight cuts in our local NHS services and to save our local hospitals. ""I am delighted that Jeremy Hunt and I are working with the Cross Community Group to coordinate our action locally as to fight this we need everyone across the community and across the political spectrum fighting as one.""
