Following widespread disappointment over the government's decision not to include the A3 tunnel at Hindhead in current spending plans, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Jeremy Hunt has asked the Conservative Party to pledge that the plans for the tunnel would be restored under a future Conservative government.Jeremy Hunt Commented:""The removal of this project from spending plans was blatant pork-barrel politics by Labour in the pre-election period. I have written to Christopher Chope, Shadow Minister for Environment and Transport, to ask him if he will commit a future Conservative government to restoring the funding for this vital project. I want voters in the area to know they can vote for a party that is committed to this project, so I hope it will become part of the Conservative General Election manifesto.”Jeremy has written the attached letter to Christopher Chope MP and is working closely with local MP Virginia Bottomley to try to ensure spending is restored as quickly as possibly for this project of such vital local, regional and national importance.
