South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt has requested an urgent meeting with Chris Butler, the new chief executive of the Surrey-wide Primary Care Trust. Mr. Butler’s appointment was announced last week and he will be leaving his role at Hammersmith and Fulham Primary Care Trust to take up his new job shortly.Jeremy wants to be one of the first people to meet with Mr Butler and his new colleague, Douglas Robertson, who is the new chairman of the Surrey-wide PCT. During the meeting, Jeremy wants to discuss the flawed proposal to close Milford and the plans to cut services at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.Jeremy said: ""The new Surrey-wide PCT is going to be absolutely instrumental in deciding what happens to our local hospitals. I want to meet with the senior management of the new PCT to learn more about their plans for our health service in South West Surrey. ""The proposals on the table at the moment will damage both acute and local hospital services in an area with large numbers of older people who depend on the NHS. I am looking for Mr Robertson and Mr Butler to halt the process of ""reconfiguration"" and support my and Anne Milton's call for a fundamental review of Surrey's health funding formula.""
