South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt and English Nature’s Nick Radford braved the torrential rain on Friday to visit the potential quarry sites in Monkton Lane and at Eashing Farm.Jeremy had invited English Nature to visit the sites with him in a bid to persuade them that any potential siting of a quarry at those two locations would have a severely detrimental impact on the communities at large. The MP hopes English Nature will join him and many other campaigners in fighting the Monkton Lane and Eashing quarry plans.Jeremy said: ""Despite the appalling weather, the site visit with Nick Radford was very useful. He was able to see for himself the problems for residents which would be caused by the traffic that quarries would generate in both Eashing and north Farnham. ""I have spoken to Waverley about this and am meeting the Chief Executive to discuss it further on Friday. It will be tough to pull this off, but I am determined to do anything possible to prevent these environmental eyesores."" Anne Milton, MP for Guildford, also attended the Eashing Farm site visit. She said: ""I am extremely concerned about the effect this proposal would have on the environment at Eashing. The countryside in this area is outstanding and loved by many. I know English Nature have considerable concerns about this proposal and we look forward to them joining us in our fight to stop this going ahead. This very special area must be protected.""
