Many thanks to Headteacher Emma Hunston and the inimitable Gemma Taylor from Smartphone Free Childhood, who I met with on Friday for a catch up - very timely following the announcement the Government is to introduce a ban on social media for under-16s. Rodborough will be introducing a smartphone ban for Year 7 students from this September and so the school is now working through the practicalities of implementing the Government’s guidance, which currently does not presently differentiate between smartphones and traditional “brick phones”. We agreed to stay in touch after rollout to see how well its all working.
Fantastic to see this excellent school taking the lead on such an important issue for children’s welfare.
