JEREMY HUNT MP CONCERNED ABOUT IMPACT OF HOUSING PLANS FOR BADSHOT LEA RESIDENTS

Jeremy is to meet with Councillors in Farnham to discuss the potential implications of the Government’s “Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment” which proposes around 900 new homes for the village of Badshot Lea.  As part of the South East Plan Waverley Borough Council are required to provide at least 5000 new homes in Waverley in the period 2006 – 2026. They have unveiled 5 options and are asking for feedback from residents.  However all 5 options impact on Badshot Lea and local Councillors are concerned about the implications of over 900 new homes in a small, attractive farmland village. Most of the fields concerned are in the strategic gap which is becoming eroded more and more, particularly now that the enormous Stax application has been approved. The infrastructure and services would not be able to cope with this.  Jeremy will meet with local Councillors in Farnham this Friday to discuss the implications of these plans.

Jeremy said: “Centrally Imposed housebuilding targets are something a Conservative goverment will scrap. We do need more affordable housing, but the responsibility should be spread across all our towns and villages and not just dumped in one area, whether Dunsfold or Badshot Lea. I am extremely concerned about the impact of these proposals on Badshot Lea and will be raising it with Ministers following my meeting on Friday."

So Jeremy admitted in a public meeting some time back that there is not enough affordable housing in his constituency, so when a plan come forward WHY does he slway reject it? Looking after the public/private school elite with their offshore tax dodging accounts as usual. Once again ignoring the needs of the working people in North Farnham. A vote for this guy is a vote for NO change for the better. remember "Centrally Imposed housebuilding targets are something a Conservative goverment will scrap" basically it means that the conservative will do nothing for affordable housing and will line the pockets of the private propety developers that throw a bung into party funds ignoring the needs of the countries hard workers.

I used to work at the large garden centre at Badshotlea over a 15 year period. It is a ten acre site and when I last worked there about 5 years ago it attracted over 1 million visitors a year so I doubt that 900 houses would cause any noticeable in traffic what so ever. It may help the struggling shops and public houses though. Also the new Sainsburys Superstore in Badsshotlea must draw in sevral million veichles a year has that made much difference to traffic? We are in recession affordable houses are needed think of the huge boost to the areas economy.

The use of Dunsfold Airfield would not be "dumping" on Dunsfold. The airfield is isolated from the heart of comumities such as Alfold & Dunsfold. It is an ideal location for the development of a "model village" which can in itself be becopme it's own community. Waverley BC needs to be more imaginative than to scatter these houses amongst the existing community and demonstrate that it has the foresight and imagination to show the UK how things can and should be done. Roads between Guildford and Horsham will need to be improved

Is it right to describe Badshot lea as a 'small, attractive farmland village'? To me the fact that its very few shops include some empty ones and also that it appears to border a large Aldershot estate might suggest something other than what you indicate in your article. I have lived there have you?
